The 7th International Seminar on Disaster Resilience, titled “From Heat to Hope: Youth Shaping Resilient Humanitarian Futures,” was held fully online on July 3, 2025. It was hosted by the Korea Red Cross and the Asia Pacific Disaster Resilience Centre (APDRC) in partnership with the Asia Pacific Youth Network (APYN) and the East Asia Youth Network (EAYN). The seminar focused on the severe impacts of heatwaves and the climate crisis in the Asia-Pacific region and emphasized youth participation as key leaders in resilience and humanitarian future-building.

The seminar also aligned with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) guidance to minimize international travel and optimize resource use by being held entirely online, which helped reduce carbon emissions and foster inclusive participation.
Expected outcomes from the seminar were the strengthening of cooperation on heatwave responses, expanding youth engagement networks, and the preparation of an official outcome report to support ongoing youth involvement in international disaster risk reduction platforms such as the IFRC Solferino Academy.

Key proceedings of the seminar included:
- Presentations on basic understanding of heatwaves and related scientific approaches.
- Discussions on Red Cross and Red Crescent climate policies and heatwave adaptation case studies from various Asia-Pacific countries.
- Youth-led initiatives sharing how young people are responding to heatwaves and building resilience in the region.
- A youth-led joint declaration reading, symbolizing an international commitment to solidarity and action against climate risks.
- Establishing a sustainable cooperation and information-sharing platform among National Societies and youth to enhance regional heatwave response.
- The seminar featured simultaneous interpretation in Korean and English, with AI-generated subtitles in up to 35 languages to encourage wide accessibility and participation.
In summary, the seminar was a platform for scientific dialogue, policy discussion, and youth empowerment in disaster resilience focused on the urgent issue of heatwaves amid the climate crisis in the Asia-Pacific region.
