By A-hyun Dong, Jung-eun Kang

COVID-19 has spread rapidly in Korea since the first confirmed case occurred, and as distancing has been implemented in accordance with quarantine guidelines, it has various social and economic effects. Various studies are measuring the resilience of the local community to measure the degree of economic damage caused by COVID-19 and to evaluate its ability to return to the past.

In this study, the impact of COVID-19 was defined as unemployment, and spatial characteristics and changes were examined by classifying it as a spread period of COVID-19 in four stages to understand spatial changes and influencing factors, and the influencing factors according to individual stages were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, it was found that there were differences in regional resilience at each stage and region, and it was confirmed that the characteristics of resilience were also different from time to time. Based on the research results, it was possible to derive the spatial change trend of resilience and factors affecting resilience from a short-term and long-term perspective after the impact, and suggest implications for future policies.
